A husband prayer is not a speech. It is returning to the water before the day starts pulling you dry — God's word first, then the hard deposit you already know you owe. This sample morning from The Daily Deposit walks that path: roots deep enough that drought doesn't decide.
Good morning,
Four minutes. One small deposit for each thing that matters most.
Faith
"Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahweh's law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper." — Psalm 1:1-3 (WEB)
Notice what the psalm doesn't promise. No storms withheld. No droughts cancelled. The tree is planted by the water, not protected from the weather. Its roots simply go deep enough that drought doesn't decide. The man who meditates on God's word isn't spared the dry season — he's just not dependent on the rain.
Marriage
There's an apology you're carrying. You know the one. It's not about whether you were technically right. It's about the tone you used, the sigh you gave, the way you made her feel small in front of the kids, or alone in the kitchen after. "I'm sorry you took it that way" is not an apology. It's a counter-attack in a trench coat. The real thing costs you your defense.
Fatherhood
Your son is learning what a man does when he's wrong. He won't learn it from your lectures. He'll learn it from watching you apologize to his mother, to him, to the waiter you snapped at. A father who never says "I was wrong" raises a son who can't either. The strongest thing you can model is the courage to lower your own flag.
Community
You have a friend who's been quieter than usual. Not absent — just muted. He's still in the group chat, still at the cookout, but the volume is down. Something is wrong. Most men won't ask. They'll wait for the headline. The man who reaches out before the crisis is the one who gets the truth.
Stoic
"It's not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a great deal of it." — Seneca
You don't need more hours. You need less leakage. The meeting you replayed three times. The show you watched because it was on. The resentment you polished like a trophy. Time isn't stolen from you. You hand it over.
One question for your kids at dinner tonight:
“When did you see someone apologize today? How did they do it?”
Go make today's deposits.
